At its first edition, Social Leaders Jordan 2018, proved to be innovative and successful in achieving its goals. The program was organized in 6 different cohorts that took place in July and August 2018 in which it engaged over 300 participants. As a result, 44 social projects were developed in order engage youth as community leaders capable of advancing sustainable development.
The participants in the program worked for the entire summer in piloting their ideas for the benefit of underprivileged communities in Jordan. The youth projects covered topics related to education, youth development, vocational training for women, seminars in media and journalism, spreading the culture of volunteering, beautification of cities and many more awareness raising initiatives towards the building of inclusive societies.
In a ceremony organized in November 2018, the initiative Jar Education was awarded with a 2,000$ prize for the great impact it has achieved. Over the first 3 months of its implementation, this initiative has delivered English education courses to children in Jerash. Jar Education is now an established NGO that has been selected to receive the 2019 Social Entrepreneurship award by the prestigious King Abdullah II Fund for Development.
